It’s no mystery that we all use makeup on an everyday basis, however, we don’t want our face feeling heavy so we prefer going for lighter makeup. And when this happens, we replace foundation with BB creams. One of the BB creams one of our interns has been eyeing recently is by Colorbar. Here is what she thinks!
Priced at INR 550, size 29 g, it’s a great product to include in your makeup regime!
The Colorbar BB Cream shade which suited my skin was 100 White Light, there are two other variants as well. It blends evenly with the skin and gives good coverage. It acts as a great base with which you can begin your makeup routine (after moisturizer/primer of course!). The BB cream is paraben free and has SPF 20. It comes in a tube packaging which is very handy. The texture/consistency of the BB cream is not too thick, is quite thin and can be applied easily. It has a light fragrance to it, which fades away eventually.
Colorbar claims “Makeup and Skincare come together to create the perfect match! This multi-benefit beauty balm hydrates, smoothes, protects, and corrects skin with sheer coverage in one effortless step. Enhanced with a blend of potent botanicals and antioxidants, the fresh and airy formula boosts luminosity, diminishes the signs of aging and repairs uneven skin tone while protecting it with broad spectrum sun protection.”
It blends smoothly and lasts up to 3-4 hours. If you have dry skin then before applying it, you must moisturize your face and then it will glide easily otherwise small creases will be formed which is not ideal. It gives medium coverage and a matte effect but it is not too long lasting. The BB cream also has SPF 20 and is also claimed to be paraben free. It doesn’t cover skin blemishes and marks so you’ll have to apply a little concealer or foundation beforehand if you’re one with blemished skin.
To better understand and judge how well this product works, here are its Pros and Cons –
- Affordable and cost effective
- Paraben free and has SPF 20
- Light weight and gives a smooth finish
- Blends easily
- Light and comfortable to wear, doesn’t feel heavy on the skin
- Ingredients not mentioned on the package.
- Not very long lasting (especially not for oily skin)
- Doesn’t hydrate or correct the skin as claimed.
- Doesn’t cover marks
- Girls with dry skin will need a moisturizer before applying this.
I would recommend this for girls who have normal to dry skin. It’s a boon for you all as it’s light, blends and is affordable, all at the same time! It gives your skin a smooth finish and acts as a good foundation. However, those with oily or blemished skin should avoid this or instead of a foundation layer, you will end up with a foundation as well as a BB cream layer and that’s definitely not ideal or wanted!
